Hanson Hall

Listen

Enjoy the sounds of chirping birds in the eastern redbud trees above your head, and gaze at the clouds through the branches.

Observed Species

Squirrels, rock pigeons, grasshoppers, ladybugs, red-tailed hawks, eastern red buds, limelight hydrangeas

I like coming here. It’s peaceful even though the place is not that secluded compared to other spots on campus. I just see little kids walking and the squirrels running around and cannot help but think that there are bigger things out there. It helps me remember that I am just another person in this world where there are billions of people, and everyone has something going on as well.

Sitting here makes me appreciate how beautiful campus is. I’ve watched a bunny enjoy the sun, a butterfly fly around, and a squirrel run up and down trees. All of this, when we’re so close to a big street, but here they feel free and safe, I guess. So even though we’re in the city and near a big street, I hope you have felt the same sense of calmness just sitting here and watching those around you, be it animals or people, living their own lives. Then, I hope you feel that you are not alone.
